                                                                                Adopted June 2018

The library has 8 laptops available for use. The laptops must stay inside the library.

Customers are required to read, sign and abide by the following contract, which is available at the front desk to use a laptop.

  1. 1.) Customers must be registered borrowers, or UHLS library card holders in good standing to use laptops.
  2. 2.) A valid NYS driver's license, NYS non-drivers ID card, or school ID is required to checkout a laptop.
  3. 3.) Both the customer’s ID and library card will be held at the desk while the customer is using the laptop.
  4. 4.) Laptops are for in-house use only. They should not be taken out of the library or into the lobby.
  5. 5.) Laptop checkout sessions are for 90 minutes. Customers may request additional time. It will be granted if there are no other reservations on the laptops.
  6. 6.) Library staff have the right to reserve laptops for educational computer classes or individual computer literacy instruction. When a literacy class or one-on-one instruction is scheduled, any needed laptops will be removed from general use circulation and will not be available for walk-in users during that time. Library staff may also shorten 90 minute laptop sessions to accommodate such literacy classes/ instruction.
  7. 7.) Customers are responsible for the wellbeing of the laptop while it is in their possession. If a laptop damaged while a customer is using it, they will be charged for it. The replacement fee for a laptop is $650.
