Book Donation Guidelines

Please note that as of May 2019, the library is reducing the size of its used book sale due to space constraints and related safety concerns. The library is limited as to the donations it is able to accept at this time. Customers who wish to make donations are encouraged to speak to the library director before bringing items in.

The library accepts donations of gently used books and DVDs in good condition. Items considered suitable for inclusion in the library's circulating collection include:
-Fiction and non-fiction published within the last two years.
-Works of classic literature.
-Children's picture and chapter books.
-DVDs in their original packaging.

Materials donated to the library are evaluated for use in the following ways:

-Incorporation into the library collection.

-Inclusion in our ongoing book sale, proceeds of which benefit the library.

If  the library receives materials in very poor condition, they will be recycled or otherwise discarded.

The following items generally will NOT be accepted:
-Magazines
-Books and DVDs in poor condition or without their original covers/packages
-Textbooks or other works of highly specialized scholarship
-Outdated reference books
-Yearbooks

Please bring your donation to the library during normal operating hours. Items left in the library lobby or outside the building cannot be guaranteed to reach the library.
