Library Cards
The Watervliet Public Library is a member of the Upper Hudson Library System (UHLS). Library cards are valid at any of the 30 member libraries within Albany and Rensselaer counties. Watervliet patrons can also request materials from any of the other libraries within the system by contacting a librarian or via the online catalog.
  • UHLS cards may be issued to residents of Albany or Rensselaer counties who do not already have a library card at another Upper Hudson library.
  • Photo ID and proof of residence is required. Proof of address includes a New York State Driver’s license/ID, mail that has been postmarked within the previous 30 days, a rent receipt, lease or checkbook.
  • Patrons with library cards from any of the other Upper Hudson libraries may use them at Watervliet Public Library just as they would at their home library.
A replacement fee of $1.00 will be charged for lost library cards.

Requests and Holds
  • You will need your library card to request items which are not on the shelf or which are available from another UHLS library.
  • When your request becomes available, you will be notified via whichever contact method you choose (phone, email or mail).
  • Requests can be made in person, by telephone, or using the online catalog.
